The Essential Health Clinic is an integrative health clinic based in Rutherglen, Glasgow. It was established in February 2007 by the Clinical Director of Glasgow Health Solutions Ltd Dr Tom Gilhooly and is now one of the busiest private health clinics in the country. Specialising in neuro immune diseases such as Multiple Sclerosis, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Fibromyalgia and Autism the clinic uses a combination of nutritional medicine and pharmaceutical treatments.

One of the most important pharmaceutical treatments is low dose naltrexone with several hundred patients treated since the clinic was established. LDN is useful in most conditions where there is immune involvement which includes rheumatoid arthritis, systemic lupus erythematous (SLE), crohn's disease, psoriasis and alopecia, all of which has been treated in the clinic.

In 2008 a laboratory facility was established within the clinic and Essential Diagnostics Ltd has developed a patented assay for nitrotyrosine which is an immune system marker. Glasgow Health Solutions has also been involved in the development of a revolutionary new blood test for omega 3 levels, the Ideal Omega Test, which allows this essential fat to be measured either in the clinic or at home.

The Essential Health Clinic is now well established as a centre of excellence for LDN, Omega-3, Nitrotyrosine and cutting edge research into Neuroimmune disease. An application to the Chief Scientists Office for funding for an LDN trial in MS is continuing to be progressed.
